Princess Planning

I've never planned a holiday before. Alright, so I've planned road trips to see friends across the length and breadth of the United Kingdom, but nothing that requires such logistics as getting myself and Paula across what might as well be an entire ocean. Realistically, it is only getting us to London to board a train/plane for a couple of hours then the same on the way back but on paper it seems so much more than that.
My father was (and still is) one for almost military planning and timing which means that I should possibly be predisposed towards this planning lark. My first set of questions though were simple:

  • Train or plane?
  • Package holiday or sort it myself?
  • How much will this cost?

Due to my location within the UK, I am near at least two major airports, which would make jumping on a plane to Disneyland Paris a breeze. A very, very expensive breeze. I need to consider how much we are happy to pay for convenience since we are technically both skint students. I think the best option would be a train from London, since it's cheap to get to London and I don't have to leave my car unattended for 5 days.

I asked around the people I know to try and determine whether the sort the whole trip out myself or to find a travel agent. Last Spring, Mother, Little Sister and myself all went to DLP and she booked it through Co-op Travel and is always singing their praises which makes me really eager to use them. They also got her a great deal on the trip, with extra bits and pieces thrown in as well as dividend points. Pricing the holiday up myself has already been really difficult, and the idea of the trip is for my birthday so I need a less stressful option!

Saved a few extra quid what with it being birthday this week, so current total is:

To EuroDisney!

... In a year.

It's my 21st birthday in almost exactly a year. My best friend and I are going to be REAL Disney princesses before we have to start living grown up lives. The trip will be about £1500, and we are going halves, so I have 52 weeks to raise £700 and some spending money. This works out at about £15 a week, which doesn't sound like too much!

I'm a small business owner, and have a part-time job that doesn't pay too horribly. My best friend is a student, looking at summer job to raise the funds for the trip. This blog will follow what lengths we've gone to so that we can secure our trip. Expect hilarity, seriousness, and a running total!

This week, I only have pocket change (and the thing hasn't really started yet!).
